Tri-R Tooling, Inc., a full service machining and job shop, was founded in 1990 by Robert John in the garage of his Mansfield, Ohio home. Robert, the son of European immigrants, was taught from a young age the importance of a strong work ethic and attention to detail. He took what his parents taught him and the knowledge he gained as a journeyman tool and die maker and decided to start his own business.

In the beginning, Tri-R was just a husband and wife shop that specialized in industrial cutter grinding and operated out of the garage of their home. After only a couple of months the business relocated to a proper building, roughly the size of a four-car garage. With the added space and subsequent hiring of other employees, Robert saw opportunity for Tri-R Tooling’s further expansion.

Within three years Tri-R was on the move yet again, this time to an 8,300 square foot building. At this time, location wasn’t the only thing that changed for the business, equipment was added and services were expanded outside of industrial cutter grinding. This was when Tri-R Tooling began growing into a full service machining business.

In 1998 Robert began construction of our current location and in 1999 Tri-R Tooling, Inc. moved into a brand new 18,500 square foot building. Now there was even further room to grow, expand equipment selections, and better serve our customers as a full service machine / job shop. A handful of years later a 12,000 square foot building was built behind the existing one as a designated metal stamping and warehouse facility.

For 25 years, the principal that customer service is job #1 has guided Tri-R Tooling. Our devotion and commitment to serve our customers to our highest level possible has played a major role in our overall success.
